Pinterest GIF Downloader
Some Pinterest animations are true GIF files and some are silent video loops dressed up as GIFs. This page saves the real GIF file when the pin has one — preview it first, then download the original animation.
How to download a Pinterest GIF
- Open the animated pin in Pinterest, tap Share, then Copy link. Short pin.it links work too.
- Paste the link in the box above and press Download. The preview shows the GIF file when the pin has one.
- Save the GIF to your device. On iPhone it lands in Files under Downloads; on Android and desktop it goes to your usual downloads folder.

Real GIF vs silent video loop
Not every animation on Pinterest is a GIF. Many “GIFs” in the feed are actually short MP4 videos playing on a loop without sound. A true GIF file loops everywhere — in chats, documents, and editors — without a video player. A muted MP4 loop needs a player and often fails to loop where GIFs just work. This page only offers the file when the pin genuinely contains a GIF, and says so plainly when it does not.
File size is the honest tell: a true GIF is usually heavier than the same clip as MP4, because GIF compression is older and less efficient. The preview shows the size in phase two so you can judge before downloading. If the pin turns out to be a video loop, the video downloader saves it as MP4 instead.
When no GIF appears
If the preview reports no GIF, the pin simply has no GIF file attached — it is a video, a still image, or a shopping or article pin. Pasting a board link also yields nothing here: only single pins work. Save only public pins for your own personal use, and respect the creator’s rights.
Frequently asked questions
How do I download a Pinterest GIF?
Copy the animated pin’s link, paste it into the box on this page, and press Download. If the pin contains a true GIF file, the preview shows it and you save it to your device. No account and no app install are needed.
What is the difference between a GIF and a silent MP4 loop?
A GIF is an image format that loops on its own in chats, documents, and editors. A silent MP4 loop is a video file that needs a player and often does not loop outside one. This page saves true GIF files only and never relabels an MP4 as a GIF.
Will the GIF keep its original quality?
Yes. The file downloads exactly as published on Pinterest, without recompression or watermarks. GIF files are usually larger than the same clip as MP4, and the preview shows the size before you download.
The preview says no GIF found. Why?
The pin has no GIF file attached — it may be a video, a still image, or a shopping or article pin. For videos, use the video downloader; for still images, use the image downloader.
