How to Download Pinterest Video on iPhone

On an iPhone, saving a Pinterest video takes four steps and no app install. Copy the link in Pinterest, paste it here, and save the file to Files — then move it to Photos if you want it in your library.

Steps

  1. In the Pinterest app, open the video pin, tap Share, then Copy link. If the link starts with pin.it, that is fine — it is Pinterest’s short link.
  2. Open Safari and go to GoPinSave. Paste the link in the box on the Pinterest Video Downloader page and press Download.
  3. Check the preview, pick a quality, and tap the download button. The file saves to Files, in Downloads.
  4. Open Files, find the video in Downloads, and move it to Photos if you want it in your photo library.

The Safari player problem

The most common iPhone failure is Safari opening the video in its player instead of downloading it. That happens when the link is tapped directly instead of saved through the download button. The fix: use the download button on the video downloader page, which forces the file to download to Files rather than play in the browser. If Safari still plays it, long-press the download button and choose Download Linked File.

Common mistakes

Pasting a board link instead of a pin link fails every time — open one video first, then copy its link. Links from private boards cannot be read at all. And if the preview shows only a photo, the pin is probably an Idea Pin delivered as a stream; see the Idea Pin problem page for what to do.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the video go on my iPhone?

To Files, in the Downloads folder. From there you can move it to Photos, or keep it in Files for offline viewing.

Why does Safari play the video instead of downloading it?

Safari plays media links directly when they are tapped. Use the download button on the video downloader page, or long-press it and choose Download Linked File, to force a real download.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Everything works in Safari, with no app install and no Pinterest login.
